Kazakh Prime Minister held a meeting of the Council for Sustainable Development
The regional preparatory meeting to the World Summit Rio +20 for countries of Asia and the Pacific in was held in Seoul on 19-20 October, 2011. The meeting was attended by over 200 officials from 41 countries and 20 international, financial and public organizations. The meeting was preceded by 2-day consultations of main groups and other meetings and seminars.
As a result, the meeting adopted the outcome documents, including the Chair's Summary, Meeting Summary and 1.5-page long statement on principal approaches of the region for Rio +20.
During the meeting, Kazakhstan reported on the results of 2 regional conferences of UNESCAP and UNECE, and decisions taken on the "Green Bridge" Partnership Programme. As a result, in the Chair's summary it was suggested to nominate from the ESCAP region to the Rio+20 Summit "Green Bridge" Partnership Programme and two other initiatives on sustainable cities, proposed by Japan.

Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference
The seventh Pan-European Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe” is taking place in Astana. Its participants will discuss the draft programme of partnership among Europe, Asia and the Pacific. This will allow for defining common environmental aims, applying Europe’s experience and the potential for preservation of natural systems. The words of welcome were sent to the conference participants by the President of Kazakhstan. Nursultan Nazarbayev believes that Astana’s initiative called “Green Growth” will strengthen the partnership between countries and will contribute to sustainable development and conservation of the planet.

Global Green Growth Forum Explores Public-Private Cooperation
Busan, Republic of Korea – November 30, 2011 – Mr. Richard Samans, Executive Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and Mr. Peter Baxter, Director General of the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on green growth cooperation at the BEXCO Exhibition Hall in Busan, Korea on November 30, 2011. Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan attended the MOU signing ceremony which was held on the occasion of the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness to encourage the two organizations to take an active approach in promoting green growth that integrates economic and environmental performance.
